Mrs. Doneen Johnson
Mrs. Johnson is a native of St. Helena Island, SC. She graduated from Francis Marion University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She received a Master of Education Degree in Instructional Technology from Lesley University and a Master of School Administration degree from Fayetteville State University through the North Carolina Principal Fellows program. Mrs. Johnson is working on her doctoral degree in Curriculum & Instruction at Gardner-Webb University.
Mrs. Johnson has worked as a classroom teacher and remediation teacher for 3rd-5th grade, a reading enrichment teacher for 6th grade, a literacy coach for 6th-8th grade, and an assistant principal for elementary and high school. Her core values are maintained through teamwork/systems, equity, and focus. She works each day to ensure a rigorous learning environment focused on what matters most to support each child because she believes our students deserve a place where they feel welcomed and challenged to be great.
Mrs. Johnson spends her free time with her family. Her hobbies include photography and arts & crafts. She also enjoys traveling, spending time at the beach or in the mountains, and reading. Mrs. Johnson is excited to serve as Principal of Bessemer City High School. "Once a Yellow Jacket, ALWAYS a Yellow Jacket!"
