Cooperative Innovative High School

  • аæèßäapp Early College of Medical Sciences is a Cooperative Innovative High School approved by the North Carolina Department of Education per the Innovative Education Initiatives Act (SL 2003-277, Senate Bill 656) and the Cooperative Innovative High School Programs statute (§ 115C-238.50-.55).

    This act encourages Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to partner with their local postsecondary Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) to provide cooperative programs jointly in high schools and colleges/universities that will expand students’ opportunities for education success through high quality instructional programming.

    Our goals are as follows:
    Ensure all students graduate ready for college, careers, and life.

    Ensure the foundational partnership between one school district and the partner IHE and encourages community partnerships.

    Ensure active learning and intentional development of students’ academic readiness, persistence and self-advocacy, and attainment of secondary and post-secondary outcomes.

    Ensure all students feel known and cared for and receive individualized support for academic success and social and emotional well-being.

    Ensure all staff are valued and developed as leaders in their respective roles and contribute to the ongoing success of all students and the CIHS.

    Ensure successful implementation of the other CIHS Design Elements described in this Guide and enhances other high school operations.
