Carr Elementary is a Leader in Me School
Carr Elementary was selected to become a Leader in Me school beginning in the 2019-2020 school year. “Leader in Me (LiM) is an evidence-based, comprehensive-school improvement model—developed in partnership with educators—that empowers students with the leadership and life skills they need to thrive in the 21st century”. All students PreK-Fifth Grade learn about Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits.
Changes which are evident at Carr Elementary School now include: leaderizing our school (using quotes or leadership statements around the school); changing from traditional Awards Day programs to student-led, Student Recognition Days, students serving in new leadership roles through speaking, greeting families and guests and helping at the sign in table, new club opportunities for 3-5 students, the use of student leadership notebooks for our first through fifth grade students, student goal setting, and student-led conferences during Parent-Teacher Conference Days.
In May 2023, Carr Elementary was recognized as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School. This is a very prestigious, global award. Currently, there are only 668 Leader in Me Lighthouse Schools in the entire world.
